Our workshopping of the intro continues, apparently. Dave still doesn't like it, but I think it's good and snappy! Let us know what you think. This is all a work in progress. That we record and edit every week.

In other news, Dave had a good week and got a hammock chair. Life is good!

    Let's get to the food...

Simple Truth Buffalo Cauliflower Dip review

This week, we tried Simple Truth Buffalo Cauliflower Dip. This is a creamy, veggie-based Buffalo dip. If you've ever had Good Food Buffalo Dip, it reminds me a bit of that, but not as thick, because I think they use a different almonds-to-veggies ratio.

Actually! I first had that Good Food Buffalo Dip at a party and couldn't find it at the store, which is what prompted me to make my own Buffalo Dip recipe.

I am a big fan of this dip. I loved the creamy texture and the tangy-spicy flavor. It was great with pita chips, bagel chips, and Ruffles. It would have been great with celery for dipping, too, for a Buffalo wing-type experience.

Dave really liked this dip, as well. He ate it exclusively on Ruffles, because that man knows how to live.

He did mention that he noticed a slightly relishy taste to it, which I didn't notice. We tried to nail down the flavor he was talking about without a ton of success. Maybe the vinegar from the Buffalo sauce mixed with the sweetness from the carrots in the dip caused that experience for him?

Relishy taste aside, though, he still really liked it.

    Listener letter

We got a message from a listener via our Instagram about our Kite Hill Sour Cream episode. Jenn writes:

After listening to the latest episode I had an idea for you guys to try - if you liked the Kite Hill onion dip - use THAT on your baked potato instead - I’ve used toffutti with Lipton onion soup mix and put the dip on potatoes.

But I’ve also had just a potato on a plate so I can GTFO. lmao

What a great idea! We are definitely trying it.

This letter sent us down a real rabbit hole about Lipton Onion Soup Mix. Are tea and onion soup mix all that Lipton does? How did they get to these specific products.

If you have thoughts on an episode or any questions or comments you'd like to share with us, email us at [email protected] Or hit us up on Insta! We get the messages, either way.

    Beefless stew

This week, the dish we're talking about is my Vegan Beef Stew. I spruced up this older recipe with new photos and a new video.

Since I shoot in the mornings, that meant we had a pot of Instant Pot stew ready just before lunch time. So that's what we had for lunch that day.

Y'all, I love this stew. It's super easy to make, and hearty with beefless tips, carrots, and potatoes. Even our stew-shunning kiddo liked it, once he got past the fact that it was stew. A thing he claims not to like but always seems to enjoy eating.

Dave also said it was delicious, but I once again got shade for craving soups and stews when it's hot outside. We recorded this episode in mid-September, and it was still hitting the 90s here in Atlanta.

Look, I like soup, and I like stew. Weather, schmeather, I say!

    Takeout corner

So, the other day, Dave heard me putting food into the air fryer for lunch, and he came bursting from his office. "No!" he said. "We're getting Bell Street Burritos!"

Y'all, Bell Street is a burrito place here in town that makes Mission-style burritos, and they have a ton of great vegan options.

Dave got a burrito with green chiles, fresh jalapeno, pinto beans, guac, tomatillo salsa, potatoes and rice. It was approximately as large as his head.

If you haven't had potatoes in a burrito yet, you. are. missing. OUT.

I got the Impossible burrito bowl, which came with pinto beans, rice, and salsa fresca. I added broccoli, because I love broccoli. I wanted to add guac and potatoes, but it was already getting a bit pricey, so I held back.

Even without those, though, it was a great meal, and I had enough left for the next day's lunch, which you know I love.

The bowl was a little bit too rice-heavy for me, but that's just me. If we'd been ordering over the phone or in-person, I would have asked for double beans and no rice, but that's not an option in their online ordering system.

    Where to listen

Thank you so much for listening (or reading!). We record these episodes for you, and we'd love to hear from you.
